Teen Found Shot Near Kipp DC College Preparatory HS (Developing)

One person was injured in a shooting near a Northeast DC school on Friday morning, officials say.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department were called to the 1400 block of Brentwood Parkway NE near Sixth Street NE to investigate a shooting that reportedly left a teen with a gunshot wound.

The shooting was reported on the same block as KIPP DC College Preparatory High School, which entered a "secure status" to keep students indoors and on campus while the department investigated.

Police said that the suspect is an armed man with a "bush hairstyle," who is between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-7, weighing around 125 pounds who is driving a white Hyundai Elantra.

No additional information was provided.

New details are expected to be released as the investigation continues.
